The River

(Click to listen)

In an extra ordinary turn of events, my old band Group of the Altos has reunited virtually to make recordings together after 4 years apart. Our first endeavour was a Joni Mitchell cover of 'River' for a holiday mental health fundraiser. We have some original material we are working on now.

The UNI4M

This is the evolution of the song 'Descending' into 'THE UNI4M'

My submission is a recipe, as follows:

  • Play recording called 'descending'

  • Take three deep breaths

  • Count from one to forty-five at a smooth measured pace

  • Take three deep breaths

  • Slowly reciting lyrics below (try singing or yelling if you are inclined)

Descending

I was always wondering what became of you

Your death was never avenged

I was left to wonder how they lived without

In your place the ghost of it

When you shake uncontrollably at the site of it, (the uniform)

That’s the human response to trauma (the uniform)

When a dam is built it destroys the ecosystem (the uniform)

The flood upstream, the scorched earth down

That is the police state, the point of the economy

You lived in the fertile river valley (enter the uniform)

Now you drown in the flood (the uniform)

Now you starve in the desert (the uniform)

Don’t look away for our many days

Don’t believe it could happen to you

The tortured part is in you

You sure play the part

Yelling obscenities from your parked car

Your face the remnant of old light

Flickering from distances

Red blue and piss white

Let’s cut to the chase

You are a coward.  You don’t deserve a face.

Your face the remnant of old light

Flickering from distances

Red blue and piss white.

Let’s cut to the chase

You are a coward.  You don’t deserve a face.

Let’s cut to the chase

You are a coward.  You don’t deserve a face.

Let’s cut to the chase

You are a coward.  You don’t deserve a face.

Let’s cut to the chase

You are a coward.  You don’t deserve a face.

I am a Beast

I Am A Beast

I lay my head beneath the wheel

I close my eyes to light perceived

In darkness fell shadows relieved

They rest and wait beneath the wheel

Thin thunder far from where we sing

We grind our teeth on freedom's ring

A sleepless journey ill received

Bruised legs tear gas now I can’t breath

We muster means to match the end

And find ourselves shot down again

In truth we walk to sew the land

Six feet apart in masks we stand

Now freedom close to where we sing

We sharpen teeth on freedom’s ring

The thirst for blood is growing then

The need for peace returns again

I am a beast my darkest heart

Seeks quick revenge for ill begot

I am a beast my darkest heart

I am a beast my darkest heart
